Rooted in the Land
Rooted in the Land is a multimedia piece that explores the diasporic experience and the longing to feel the soil from home. Questioning moments and memories from this soil to the homeland of my father, integrating home videos, the artist's performance work, and archived footage from Palestine. Maghathe projects a collage of reflections on glass castings of sabr (Prickly Pear Cactus) highlighting the resilience and fragility of plants, the stories they tell when others cannot speak, and the deep sense of yearning for the land.
